Weekly post

Here is my weekly post to show what I got up to this week to complete the rest of the course.

SPANISH
This week I have been working on memorising my essay that I will write in class at the end of May. I feel that this is going quite well. I have a few mistakes with pronouns and little things I just have to be careful to watch out for.

As for the talk..Alicia has advised me to stick to my talk that I presented to her before but just to make it a little more complicated and eloquent. She quite liked the expressions I used so I have already memorised my talk, I just have to revise all the topics she may ask her 3 questions on.

Revising the topics is going well. I'm making sure that I write sentences using everything I want to learn to use the words and get it to stick firmly in my mind. I'm reading a book of short stories in Spanish which I have with me all the time and I understand better everyday.

LITERATURE
Still to do in Lits I have to remediate my comparison essay which has already been done. Maeleine gave me pretty clear advice on what it needed and so it was a quick and easy job.

Next I have my essay plan for the structure of the Personal study essay to be done in class. I've chosen Out of Africa. I have a good idea now of the techniques used by the writer I'm going to focus on and the motifs also. I have a main theme that will be the main topic of the essay.

HISTORY
I have completed the Hitler essay for Evan's history class. I found the details quite interesting and will perhaps focus on the subject for my exam which will be two fridays from now.

Also I'm making sure I prepare for the exam by revising all history topics so I have a good choice of what I want to write about when it comes to the essay.

Meanwhile I'm beginning to work on the personal essay for history of the topic: the partition of India and the effects on the area of Kashmir today.
I have gotten many books from the library and from Blackwells too so I have already got quite a well rounded idea of my viewpoint and the arguments I want to present.
Evan was right when he said that if you read widely your topic and your essay question will come to you. If was hard not to jump right in and to wait while I did a few weeks of reading. But now I've learned the benefit of being prepared well in advance and having a lot of knowledge in your head before you begin.

COMMS
I am very nearly finished my preparation for my talks. I want to deliver them together which would be nice because the topics are ery closely linked and I think one would be more interesting after the other for others. I've really enjoyed the subject of Arabic culture, it's something I've always been interested in and I'm happy to present this now because I feel quite passionate about it!

So in general I have to just continue getting through the things which are on the list. In the next couple of weeks I will be sitting a few exams which will mean that many things are completed by then.

I'm really looking forward to University now, I'm just trying to enjoy what I'm doing now before it's all over with as it will be soon and make sure I take the most from it that I can.
