So this week I decided to concentrate lots on Spanish. This details only what I did towards Spanish, although I did do other things too.
Thursday
Although I was feeling ill today I tried to listen to Spanish and complete exercises on what I listened to. When I completed my speaking assessment I felt I understood most of what Alicia asked me apart from a few things. So I decided to continue to work on listening and improve as much as possible!
In addition to this I worked on verbs that are similar to gustar. For example: doler; molestar; parecer; sobrar; faltar; quedar and many others. I just practised forming sentences with the structure required. This was a good thing for me to practise and by coincidence, Alicia covered this subject in class on tuesday and we went over some other words using the same formation.
Friday
After class I decided to go over the subjects I covered for my talk. I also covered little things I hadn't practised for a while like the weather, time, numbers over 100 etc.
I found a section in one of my Spanish textbooks and completed exercises on these subjects. I found it really helped.
Saturday & Sunday
Over the weekend I again completed less than I would like to due to feeling ill.
Despite that, I made sure I wrote a story in Spanish on the subject of future plans. This was a subject I revised for the talk and was of the subjects I felt the most rusty on. So completing that essay for Alicia meant I could see where I was making little mistakes.
Monday
Monday I couldn't complete much at all without getting a headache. I managed to do a little listening but did not complete any exercises on it. Listening is a good thing to try to do often because I find it the hardest to do in Spanish.
Tuesday
I completed a reading comprehension sheet for homework for the class.
I also continued to look at Las Lenguas de las Mariposas to improve reading comprehension.
Wednesday
I completed some more exercises using verbs like gustar and listened to Spanish conversations. I worked on the use of preterite and imperfect and It's starting to become easier. It will begin to come to me faster once I've worked on it a little more.
Next week I will aim to continue to work on my Spanish just as much (good having holiday time to do it) and also I will begin to look into my history topics further to decide which I prefer to write about. I've narrowed it down to a few things which I want to keep secret until I decide.
For literature class I have the coursework available to do over the hols so I want to try and get that done. I have a comparison essay and a personal reflection essay which will be done on Out of Africa-quite a complicated novel, but it should be enjoyable.
Also I want to complete my Comms work. I'm nearly finished the assessments apart from the talks, which I will work on over the hols along with the other subjects mentioned and Spanish and hope to be ready to present them sometime after the holiday. Dieca's advice has made me realise I don't have anything to worry about, but worrying! So I'm ready to get stuck into all this work while I have time off. Being able to work only 2 days a week during the holiday gives me an advantage to get to where I want to be.
See you after Easter....
